It's riveted together, so if it ever fails, it's a throwaway. Pedal motion is smooth and speed feels proportional. Good value for the money. This is a simple resistance-based control--no fancy electronics. But that's all you need for a Dremel tool.
It is not very heavy and I don't know if it would stand up long in a commercial shop environment but is great for the home hobbiest. The price on this pedal was excellent and is perfect for the size of motor that I need to control. I had to find a control pedal for my rotary tool because the original broke. Dremel discontinued theirs and finding one in a store or hobbyshop was impossible.
I'm sure over time I will find even more uses for this. Now I have a great heavy duty pedal that works like a charm, couldn't ask for more. I got this to use as the foot pedal in an old 1920's sewing machine. The connection that the machine came with was impossible to find on a modern foot pedal so I cut it all off and wired it so that it would connect to this.
I was delighted to find exactly what we wanted at a great price, free shipping, and prompt delivery. There were several options. I began my online search after failing to find a foot pedal at the retail establishment where I purchased the dremel tool. And running into snags, I thought "Duh." Why didn't I think about Amazon.com first.
rolando This rheostat is excellent for my dental office. Allows me to be able to control the speed of the dremel tool with my foot.
